This weekend has really turned out to be a productive one for me, and I even have time to write an entry. Yesterday I managed to finish my readings in my personal finance class and my readings in my marriage and the family class. I also completed a Java program thats due on Monday, so it felt nice coming into today having completed a lot. Today, I went even further and completed 3 Perl programs that are due on Wednesday. These programs were assigned on Friday, and the professor hasn't even configured his upload script to accept these programs. It feels nice to get all this done. I still have to complete some readings for another class and revise an essay I wrote, but looking at the week ahead: I should have plenty of time to do that.
My workout program seems to be moving along, but my appetite has grown so much since I've put on all this muscle. I'm by no means trying to become big and muscular like some of those steroid body builders you see on TV, but I have been trying to build them up enough so that my metabolism can keep me lean. In a way its working, but I've become a lot more hungry throughout the day than I used to be. Last year, I could probably get by with a breakfast drink, a plate of food from the dining hall, and one of those lean cuisine dinners or something light like soup. That kind of thing wouldn't work today: my meals now consist of a breakfast drink in the morning, two or three plates of food from the dining hall, a midafternoon snack such as hot wings, a larger tv dinner like marie callandars or boston market, and another evening snack of hot wings. You would think I'd get fat with all that I'm eating, but the combination of muscle and elevated metabolism from working out has actually kept me at a relatively constant weight. I'm still gaining muscle and losing fat mind you, but at a pace that keeps my weight constant.
Something else that my workout program has done is it has turned me into a really big drinker! No not alcohol silly
. I've been drinking tons of water lately: so much that I have to buy a 24 pack of those 1/2 liter bottles every week, which comes out to about $5 a week in water. I sure stay hydrated, but its a change from when I would drink a 3 liter bottle of soda a week. Three liters of water wouldn't even last me 2 days! (I drink roughly 2 liters of water every day!)
I've decided that once I move to Denver, I'm probably gonna look into getting a membership at Gold's Gym or one of those fitness clubs so I can keep working out. It's going to be interesting trying to fit working out around a 9-5 schedule, but it can be done somehow. If not, I might just buy a bow-flex machine so I can work out at home, but not until I own a home. I think it would be too much putting one of those in an apartment and have to move it around. Anyways, I've probably sufficiently bored you with my workout program.
I did have a rather interesting dream last night. In the dream, I was graduating and for some reason I showed up at graduation without my cap and gown. It was weird and I asked my mom to run back and get it for me. She went and got it, but it was the wrong one! It was my cap and gown I wore for my high school graduation, and I needed the one to wear for a college graduation. I left my graduation to go get the right one and by the time I got back the ceremony had already started and people were lined up to get their diplomas from the dean. I threw on my cap and gown rather quickly and ran into my place in line. I made it, but it was a strange situation. Afterwards, I came back to my apartment for a bit to undress and get ready for my party. I laid down for a bit and fell asleep, and when I woke I jumped up and went over to the party. By the time I got to my party, all my aunts and uncles had left, and it was just my mom there cleaning up. I asked her where everyone had gone and she said they had to go home. That was about when I woke up from the dream. I think with graduation looming so near, it is something that has been on my mind enough that I'm starting to dream about it.
I'm beginning to loath Cingular wireless. About a month ago, they forced my mom to change our plan from the "blue AT&T plan" to the "orange Cingular plan." Ever since she did that my phone has been dropping calls and having trouble getting through to people. Today and yesterday when I was talking to my mom on the phone, the call must have dropped 3 or 4 times and it was very irritating. My dad has been having the same problems with his Blackberry and he's planning on switching to Sprint. I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch, but I haven't decided on the carrier yet. If I switch to T-Mobile, I don't have to buy a new phone. My Razr uses a SIM card, which is what Cingular and T-Mobile use to get onto GSM networks. I'm thinking about switching to Verizon, but if I did that, I'd have to buy a new phone too. They run on a CDMA network, which runs on a different frequency than GSM, and doesn't support SIM cards. I've decided that if I do switch to Verizon, I'm going to kill two birds with one stone and buy a Windows Mobile enabled device like a Blackberry. It will not only replace my cell phone, but it will replace my PDA. I don't really want to buy a new phone, but I may have no other option. As for my PDA, the display has already become non-responsive on certain parts of the screen and the memory is pretty much full. (I don't want to uninstall any of the programs I have on there as I use them fairly often.)
