Well it's been a few days since I've updated this so I thought I'd bring you up to speed on things. I've been doing relatively well in my classes, but I was a bit down today because I got a 'D' on an ethics test. He'll probably apply a curve at the end of the year, but still I was disappointed considering I thought I did well on that. On the other hand, I got an 11.5/12 on a Computer Systems quiz! So I was happy about that. I also think I did well on a test in that class but we haven't gotten the grade back on that yet.
In case you're wondering, I'm still working out and eating right. My meals haven't changed much since that little outline I gave in an earlier entry, but I have tried to fit in some more snacks so I don't starve myself. My body needs more nutrients to operate now. Anyhoo, here are the latest revisions to my workout plan:
Body Fat: ~13%
Weight: 145 lbs
Well based on the first body density equation from this site.
http://topendsports.com/testing/tests/skinfolds.htm
I have written a Body Fat Percent Calculator in Java that uses skin fold measurements. I could easily make it into a Javascript and post a working version on the site, but I think for now, I'll just post the source code so you can compile it on your own. I have no problem doing that. It seems to be much more accurate than the tape measurement I had previously been using. Let me know if you see any problems with the program.
import java.util.Scanner;
import java.io.IOException;
public abstract class bfcalc {
public static double calc(double chest, double abdominal, double thigh, int age) {
double sum = chest + abdominal + thigh;
double density = (1.10938d - (0.0008267d * sum) + (0.0000016d * (sum * sum)) - (0.0002574d * age));
return (495/density) - 450;
}
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException{
System.out.print("Enter your age: ");
Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
int age = in.nextInt();
in.nextLine();
System.out.print("Enter chest measurement: ");
double chest = in.nextDouble();
in.nextLine();
System.out.print("Enter abdominal measurement: ");
double abdominal = in.nextDouble();
in.nextLine();
System.out.print("Enter thigh measurement: ");
double thigh = in.nextDouble();
in.nextLine();
System.out.println("Your body fat percentage is " + bfcalc.calc(chest, abdominal, thigh, age));
}
}
Oh and by the way. Based on several runs of my program, my body fat percent is 15.33 ± 0.57.
Weight: 146 lbs
Body Fat: 16%
Modifications to previous program...
- 20 30 lbs x 12 reps x 2 sets of Rear Flys
- 30 50 lbs x 12 reps x 2 sets of Pec Deck
- 130 170 lbs x 12 reps x 2 sets of Back Extensions
- 70 90 lbs x 12 reps x 2 sets of Leg Adduction
- 210 230 lbs x 12 reps x 2 sets of Leg Presses
- 50 70 lbs x 12 reps x 2 sets of Shoulder Presses
Agh.. such a busy weekend! I spent most of Saturday working on a Java program for my database class. Apparently my original implementation was a vector based implementation, and I had to reimplement it as a linked list. I know i'm talking gibberish to non-computer science majors, but oh well.. deal with it! I didn't lose any points on the program last week, but the program I worked on this weekend uses last weeks program. He'd probably take off points if its inefficient twice in a row so I redid that. I should be able to finish that program tomorrow.
Today, I had to work on another program for my systems class. Bash one line scripts and a script based mp3 tag editor. I got the one liners done, but the id3tag program didn't exactly work well. Oh well.. its commented. Now for my rant.... I hate regular expressions! Sure they are powerful, but they are tedious. They are like an extension of dos wildcards like *.. actually dos copied them off linux. Anyways, they are so confusing. I'm not gonna go into details about how, but just take my word for it.
